Hage Hinoki Cypress
Hage Hinoki Cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Hage’) is the miniature version of the Japanese Hinoki Cypress. This Dwarf Tree is very compact and its foliage is a dark green color. They are very slow-growing plants and only grow about 1 inch each year. This plant reaches a height and width of 1 to 2 feet tall over its entire lifespan. As Hage Hinoki Cypress ages, its appearance will look sculpture-like, making it a beautiful feature in any garden.
This plant thrives in hardiness zones 5 through 9 and prefers well-draining, fertile soil, a regular watering schedule, and some sun but mostly shade. It is also crucial to shelter your shrub from the wind it could cause damage to this delicate plant. This cypress looks well when planted as small accents/specimens, hedges, screens, foundations, and a rock garden plant.
